Home Fries

Spiced up home fries are an easy, last minute side dish for a weeknight. We’ve all been there – focused on the main dish but forgot you need something to go along with it. Whip this up with just a few staple ingredients and spices.



  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 4 medium potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch dice
  • Optional: 1 tsp finely chopped red chili or jalapeño, seeds removed (or a pinch of ground cayenne pepper)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika


Heat oil in a pot. Add the onion and pepper. Sauté for 3 minutes. Add the potatoes, chili pepper, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir to incorporate. Cover, let cook for 2-3 minutes at a time to get the outside of the potatoes crispy, then stir gently. If the potatoes start to stick to the pan, add a little bit of hot water. Cook until the potatoes are soft, 15-20 minutes.
