Easy Pasta Bolognese

This is one of my family’s favorite suppers. Seriously, we could eat it every week and be thrilled about having it for dinner. It’s so delicious, hearty and satisfying, especially on a cold day. This recipe works just as well for 1 lb of beef or 1 12 so it’s great for feeding a family. It’s also so easy – it comes together in just 20 minutes – and you can make it by adding just a few staple ingredients to the beef. Bon appetite!

  • 1 lb box of pasta
  • 1-1.5 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup red wine (dry)
  • 25-28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 18 tsp red pepper flakes (or more to taste – optional)
  • Pinch of nutmeg

Prepare pasta according to package directions.

In the meantime, heat olive oil in a pan, add the beef and brown until no longer pink, breaking into smaller pieces as you cook it. Drain most of the excess liquid. Add the garlic, pepper, oregano, salt and red pepper flakes if using, and mix in for 1-2 minutes. Add the wine and crushed tomatoes and deglaze the pan. Bring to a boil, then cook simmering for 7-10 minutes. Stir in the nutmeg. When the pasta is cooked, drain, and then add the meat sauce to the pot with the pasta. Mix to incorporate.
